BRICKS FOR FREE
Bricks For Free is a brick production method which uses only glass-waste and soil but does not sacrifice the brick's mechanical strength and practicality. This technique is singular because it does not involve ceramics or cement, consequently significantly reducing pollution and production costs.
Most soil types and all kinds of glass will do.
Using glass-waste and soil is not just an inexpensive method — the recycling industry has not been able to deal with the vast amounts of glass-waste that continue to accumulate, not to mention using it as a purposeful resource. By contrast, the BFF, by finding an exact ratio between soil, glass, and firing-temperature, has turned glass into a valuable substance.
An ecological and aesthetic option is to compose each home's bricks of the same soil excavated to create its foundations. Thus every home's color can be characteristic of its geographic environment.
